The Edisto Island Mostly Bluegrass Festival is proudly bringing some of the best traditional and contemporary Bluegrass and Americana bands in the country to the South Carolina Lowcountry including the following headliners:

Lonesome River Band









  • In their 30+ year career, Lonesome River Band has gained prominence as one of the most respected names in bluegrass music.  Artists include five-time IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Assn.) banjo player of the year Sammy Shelor.
  • In addition to numerous IBMA album-of-the-year awards, they have had a multitude of #1 hits on the Bluegrass Top 30 charts.  
  • LRB with guest musician, Steve Martin on banjo, performed on the Late Show With David Letterman in late 2011.

    Shelly Waters  with The Joe Taylor Group
    Shelly Waters will hit the stage with a set from her new album Drive. This native of Rayne, LA brings with her a rootsy soulful blend of Creole and Country music, with her sultry voice smoldering the mix. Drive will be released nationwide on Moonwatcher Records on November 4th. Her recent performances with Loretta Lynn as a featured artist at the Americana Music Festival have proven Shelly to be a real contender for Emerging Artist of the Year for 2015. Shelly is backed up by The Joey Taylor Group, with Grammy-nominated guitarist and producer Joe Taylor, Nashville session ace Sean O'Bryan Smith on bass (plays with Keith Urban, Lafy Antebellum and Billy Joel) and acclaimed drummer Blair Shotts (plays with Rihanna, Pharrell and The Roots).


    Southern Flavor Bluegrass
    Southern Flavor Bluegrass Band has been playing in and around Charleston since the 90's.  Their repertoire spans from classic bluegrass traditionals to rock songs turned bluegrass.  The band is made up of George Del Porto on Banjo, FB Del Porto on Guitar and Mandolin, Anthony Del Porto on Bass, and Jared Fisher on Guitar and Mandolin.  Their style and song selection focuses on their vocals to bring attention to the "blood harmonies" created by having related people sing with each other.

    Blue Iguanas
    The Blue Iguanas was formed approximately 4 1/2 years ago with the idea of performing progressive bluegrass, new grass, and Americana while using traditional acoustic instrumentation.
    The band has played many festivals throughout the Southeast and their first CD, Fire In The Pineywoods, has received critical acclaim throughout the bluegrass community.
    Composed of five veteran performers, their vocals are led by classically trained female vocalist, Lauren Tolcher and their original tunes are written by singer-songwriter Steve Bennett.
    They cover a large spectrum of musical genres while still managing to keep their feet firmly planted within the Bluegrass tradition.


    Flatt City
    Flatt City is a five piece bluegrass band from Charleston, SC. "We take pride in producing our own special blend of bluegrass with driving instrumentals and strong vocal harmonies. We've developed our sound from both traditional and modern sources and strive to continue the bluegrass tradition of taking something old and making it new again." 

    Blue Plantation
     The Blue Plantation Band is an acoustic string band with a diverse variety of authentic musical styles. These styles include Bluegrass, Irish, Folk, Country, Swing, and Jazz. They have created their own niche market and specialize in Wedding Ceremonies, Receptions, Dinner Rehearsals, Oyster Roasts, Pig Pickins, Corporate Events, Festivals, Private Parties, Family Functions, and Local Music Venues. The band is made up of four musicians with a wide background of musical experience and a high level of expertise. The band is hard-working and has been performing together for 14 years in the Charleston, SC area.
